Mama Fuego is an all day and night drinking and dining riverside venue on North Greenwich Pier by the O2 arena.

Mama Fuego is an exploration of a shared heritage of pastoral culture in South America and Australia, we find the commonalities by focusing on produce and small farmers, pairing Australian food styling with Latin American flavours, and Australian-technique Speciality Coffee with Latin American beans. Mama Fuego is the first of its kind, that is the soul of an independent cafe in the skin of a large restaurant & bar. 

 

Mama Fuego is a series of architecturally designed spaces, inspired by the playfulness, glamour and warmth of design in the 1960's and 70's. Featuring a formal restaurant, a milk-bar cafe, a full-service open plan bakery with unique daily made bakes, riverside garden and barbecue, & exclusive drinking dens including a gin distillery, tap room bar and 70's style sunken lounge. Located within the dynamic new Greenwich Peninsula neighbourhood right beside The Tide, an elevated walkway and garden designed by the designers of the NYC High Line and featuring a running track and sculpture walk featuring works by the likes of Damien Hirst.

ABOUT THE SPACES.

The Milk-Bar will be serving up our Australian style Speciality coffee, bringing the fun, neighbourhood vibe of Australian cafés to Greenwich. Alongside the coffee menu, the Milk-Bar will serve daily made goods from the bakery, including beautiful floral cakes, in Summer soft serve ice cream with Tim Tams and Caramello Koalas. The Milk-Bar counter offers plenty of takeaway options; the perfect pit-stop for local residents to pick up their morning coffee from 7am each day.

 

Originating from Greek and Italian immigrants to the suburbs of Sydney, milk-bars were family-owned and run, ‘mum and pop’ cafés that served informal food and drink. They were truly interwoven into the fabric of their communities and became the blueprint for the culture of 'local' social dining and drinking venues in Australia. 

The 70-seat all-day dining room at Mama Fuego serves a new take on Australian-style food, with a focus on quality, organic produce and a relaxed, buzzing atmosphere. 

An open kitchen allows guests to interact with the team of chefs, the rooms are only divided by a large stone fireplace at the end of a huge banquet style dining table reminiscent of a farm kitchen. It features a variety of collectors pieces of mid-century furniture as well as our own bespoke joinery made from Australian timber (Tasmanian Blackwood). The restaurant offers a variety of seating options for parties of all sizes, from the communal banqueting table, to cosy sofa areas that are perfect for an intimate dining experience.

The sunken lounge is a 60’s/70's style conversation pit below floor level reminiscent of movies of the era like The Party, Pink Panther or a Sean Connery Bond film. With plush deep red shag carpets and leather upholstered seating and cushions snaking around the organically shaped lounge. It is bordered by a bespoke timber sculptural screens creating a cosy, private space.

The centre point of the lounge is a large fireplace, which can be turned on for your event to create a cosy atmosphere. In this area guests will be able to order alcohol from the attached bar but will also be able to order food from the regular menu as well. 

The lounge bar is our main central bar and includes an additional area of difference seating on the opposite side to the sunken lounge - with a large banquet style stool height table and a cosy intimate ‘cave-like’ seating area we call ‘the snug’. At this bar you can choose from a wide variety of Australian and South American wines displayed in our bespoke timber fridges, or cocktails from our signature cocktail list, such as the Lamington, inspired by Australia’s unofficial national dessert.   

The Triangle Bar at Mama Fuego is a lush bar room on the second floor of the venue. It houses the beautiful tap bar with draught beers and small-batch, craft cocktails on tap, created in collaboration with One Point Eight Cocktails. The bar is a sculptural rounded edge triangle piece made on site from concrete in a single smooth piece. The space here is plush and sexy with a timber parquetry floors, a double sided fireplace and vintage 70s plush sofas in tonal green velvets. 

Here we are able to set up entertainment required for private events, such as DJ booth, stage, skalectrics or poker tables.  

Situated on the second-floor mezzanine level, the bakery is an inviting, open space where guests can watch as Mama Fuego’s bakers create delicious cakes, whilst enjoying the mouth-watering smell of freshly made treats. Guests will be able to purchase items straight out of the oven from a selection of unique speciality products featuring our signature tropical floral flavours, as well as our own in house coffee and dulce de leche. This space is designed as an open plan ‘country style’ kitchen with floating island tables and timber parquetry floors, stone counter tops and vintage pendant lights to give it a really cosy, homey feel.
